Yuan Ti Scale Mail BG3 Location And Stats Guide

Finding the right armor during Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3 can dramatically change your party's survival rate in tough combat encounters. Among the choices available, the Yuan-Ti Scale Mail stands out as one of the best choices for high-Dexterity characters. This rare medium armor bridges the gap between light stealth gear and heavy defensive protection.

Where to Find Yuan-Ti Scale Mail in BG3

Acquiring the Yuan-Ti Scale Mail requires players to reach the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2. Once you arrive at Last Light Inn, head toward the main courtyard to locate Quartermaster Talli. She stocks this powerful armor piece in her merchant inventory, where it can be purchased directly for gold.

It is important to secure this item early before progressing too far in the main story. Certain choices in Act 2 can alter vendor availability or make the sanctuary inaccessible. Checking Talli's shop as soon as you enter the area ensures you will not miss out on this gear.

Yuan-Ti Scale Mail Key Stats and Properties

The Yuan-Ti Scale Mail offers a solid base Armor Class of 15 while functioning as Medium Armor. Its defining feature is the Exotic Material passive, which allows the wearer to add their entire Dexterity modifier to their AC. Typically, medium armor caps Dexterity bonuses at +2, making this piece exceptionally flexible for agile builds.

Additionally, the armor grants the Ambusher passive, giving the character a +1 bonus to Initiative rolls. Unlike standard scale mail options, it also removes the usual disadvantage penalty on Stealth checks. This combination makes it ideal for rangers, rogues, or dexterity-based fighters who rely on quick movement.

Why Yuan-Ti Scale Mail Is So Powerful

In Baldur's Gate 3, taking action early in combat turn orders can completely turn the tide of battle. The built-in initiative bonus ensures high-dexterity characters consistently secure earlier turns. When combined with items like the Gloves of Dexterity, characters can easily reach an impressive AC level without wearing heavy gear.

Because it acts like light armor while maintaining a high base defense, it remains relevant well into the final act. Players looking to maximize defenses on spellcasters or archers will find tremendous value in this piece. It serves as a crucial upgrade before eventually acquiring late-game gear like the Armor of Agility.
